Ok..so I admit…I’m sort of a geek. Ahem, the current term is “techie.” Anyway, yesterday they released the new iPhone. Not only was it on my calendar…but I watched the live blog of the release. That means that someone at the event was blogging from their seat - and I continued to refresh the page to read the latest.

The new iPhone looks like the ideal phone…

much faster internet service
longer-lasting battery
ability to read ms word, excel, and powerpoint
built-in gps (the old one triangulated between towers and got “close” - sometimes no closer than the city you were in)
many new applications and games
$299 for 16GB and $199 for 8GB

http://www.techtree.com/India/News/Its_an_iPhone_and_its_3G/551-90098-615.html

HOWEVER…this is still not the ideal iPod. If you’re looking for a device to serve as a phone, hold ALL your music, and ALL your pictures, and at least SOME of your video………….you’ll have to wait for a future version of this thing.

(update)
Not so cheap after all. Since the monthly rate was raised from $20/mo to $30/mo you end up paying (after a 2 year contract is complete) $40 more than for the original iPhone.

http://scitech.blogs.cnn.com/2008/06/11/iphone-3g-not-so-cheap-after-all/

The kicker…

to own one will cost you roughly $1000/yr! Hmmm…if you get 20 mpg in your car…and gas is $4/gal…that’s 5 miles for every dollar…costing you a wopping 20-cents a mile. For the annual cost of an iPhone you can travel 5000 additional miles. NOW who is the gas guzzler?

Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 …… $33.60 per gallon?
Vick’s Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 … $178.13 per gallon?
Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 .. $123.20 per gallon?
Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ……. . $25.42 per gallon?
Scope 1.5 oz $099 …..$84.48 per gallon?

And this is the REAL KICKER…?

Evian water 9 oz $1.49..$21.19 per gallon! $21.19 for WATER and the buyers don’t even know the source? - (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)

Ever wonder why printers are so cheap??

They have you hooked for the ink.
Someone calculated the cost of the ink at (you won’t believe it….but it is true……..)
$5,200 a gal. (five thousand two hundred dollars)

So, the next time you’re at the pump ,be glad your car doesn’t run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink!

And those of you who know me even better know that my absolute favorite root beer is Henry Weinhard’s. The short story is that Weinhard’s resorted to making root beer during the US prohibition in 1920. Weinhard’s was sold only in the northwest region of the US up until just recently. For 7 years now I’ve been bringing multiple cases back from the Safeway grocery every time I travel to Colorado. Now, it’s at the grocery store just around the corner!

So here’s where the story get’s good…

I came home on Wednesday night to find that Stacey had spelled “I -heart- U” with the root beer bottles.

In Stacey’s Words…

We went to eat with several of my friends from college last night at a Japanese steakhouse (that’s the reason you see random oriental people in the pics) and afterwards Greg took me to a small church built in the 1940’s and proposed to me. As you can see from the pictures the inside was absoluetly breathtaking and he planned the entire thing!

As we walked into the church he grabbed my hand and walked me down the aisle to the front of the church where he had a dozen red roses and more candles waiting. About half way down the aisle I realized what was happening and I thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest… in fact at one point I think it did!!!!!!

Greg reminded me of the first time we met and how he knew right away he wanted to ask me out. He talked about how much he loved my family (he said he hasn’t found one yet he didn’t love…..my first thought was wow we’ve got him snowed!!!!!). We talked about his family and I told him how wonderful they are!

He pulled out a sheet of paper that had three scriptures on it….the first was a scripture I had read at Kelley’s funeral a year ago out of Matthew 18. The second was the scripture about two being better than one and the third was the love chapter out of ICorthinthians.

(He said lots of other very sweet things but I can only remember about half of them!!!!!!)

After that, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!!!!!

It was an incredible night that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Before all of our friends came in Greg said a prayer over us and about our relationship. He asked God to bless the road before us and asked that we bring glory and honor to Him through our relationship. I cannot think of a better way to start an engagement and a life together!!!
