Wow…it’s been a long time since I wrote anything here…
It’s been an exciting week! On Monday, Stacey got to show the Dallas Cowboys players and cheerleaders around the hospital. Some of the big names were Tony Romo, Tashard Choice, Nick Folk, and Bradie James. Way cool in my book. Then on Wednesday the Texas Rangers were at the hospital and Stacey got to show Kevin Millwood around. The kids just love it when the big names pay a Christmas visit.
For me, I’m just eat up with science and space. Yesterday the space shuttle Endeavour landed (which I saw) and stayed the night on our runway (Lockheed/Naval Air Station). I got to go (with my friend Jon who works at the Air Station) over for a closer viewing. What an amazing experience!
The honeymoon was fantastic and we took some 600+ pics! Here are only the highlights…
We departed Sunday at noon and arrived Maui at 3:30pm. By 5 we were at the Hyatt in Kaanapali. With a 5-hour time difference we made up most of the 8-hr flight over.
Monday we scheduled nothing with exception of the afternoon massage in the cabana. We ate that night on the deck of a a fancy little seafood restaurant overlooking the sunset of the Pacific.
Tuesday we awoke somewhat early for a snorkel trip out to the Molokini crater off the coast of Maui (dormant volcano). Saw lots of colorful fish, sea turtles, and coral reef.
Wednesday we enjoyed the pool & more good food.
Thursday we awoke at 1:45am and were picked up and driven to the top of Haleakala (another dormant volcano). Here we saw the sunrise and rode downhill on beach cruisers for 25-mi through the villages. SO much fun! Thursday night we went to the Old Lahina Luau. Supposedly this is one of the most authentic in the state. It was *really* impressive.
Friday we drove the road to Hana. It was a winding mountainside drive with lots of amazing scenery and waterfalls. Can’t beat having a convertible Mustang for a drive like that!!!
Saturday we enjoyed the pool & more good food.
Sunday we flew to Oaha to see Pear Harbor, Honolulu, Waikiki Beach, and Diamond Head.
Returned home by flying through the night Sunday night. 8-hr flight + 5-hr time delay got us home at 7:30 Monday morning.
Was a wonderful time…many thanks to those who joined us for the wedding, sent presents, and have remembered us in your prayers. Thank you!
Now THIS is how a city should do fireworks!!! Here’s just a 10 min clip of Nashville’s 25 min coreographed show from this year. I spent an entire evening finding a way to see Fort Worth’s worthless 9 min of poo. I’ve put on a better show in my backyard! I’m hopeful to make it home for the 4th in 2009 for a show worth seeing.
